Orillia Best Western Couchiching Inn

This local hotel sits right on the edge of Orillia and offers some very nice rooms, pleasant service and a rather nice location. While it does sit somewhat close to a very busy road, there is a fairly popular and well attended restaruant (Just Eddies) in front of it, offering a little buffer between the busy street and the rooms. It sits on the edge of a point of land bordered by Lake Couchiching, so although it isn't a waterfront property, one can walk down the "laneway" to the edge of the lake in only a few minutes (see area map below).

Although it's location is "away from the maddening crowd" it is still quite close to most of the local attractions, and a few minutes ride by car will take you to the local festival locations, or downtown. Area golf courses run from a few minutes away, to a 15 minute drive away so even that is still not a long drive if you are on vacation or come to golf.

The Stephen Leacock Museum is not much more than a couple of minutes from here, and Tudhope Park is just beyond that. The area has walking/bike trails that lead right into downtown for those who prefer to travel that way too. Also, for those who prefer to, there is a shuttle bus available on some evenings, but you'll need to call the hotel for the schedule of the bus, but most evenings you can get to the casino on a shuttle.

Some of the rooms offer fireplaces and jacuzzies, and rooms have Cable TV and high-speed internet access, and there is a complimentary breakfast (continental) in the on-site bistro. The bistro also has dinner for guests who don't want to go too far, and the hotel includes an exercise room, spa and steam room, and also caters well to the business crowd with small meeting room facilities. Offerings from the "room amenities department" include coffee makers, alarm clock, the usual desk/table and chair, free local phone calls, high speed internet (not free with room, so it costs extra), small mini-suite type rooms (king bed, pullout couch), some rooms are available with microwave and small fridge and even a few housekeeping-style rooms (includes pots, pans, dishes etc. for longer stays), and cribs and "roll-away" beds for family travel.

While I personally haven't stayed in this hotel, I've been in it a few times, and in general the staff appears friendly and helpful, and the rooms compare with most of the other "well-traveled" hotels in Orillia. For those who travel with their pets - this hotel does not accept pets, so keep that in mind when booking your stay. (other hotels in Orillia do accept pets, see the other listings)
