The Stonegate Inn (located just off the Highway 11 South cutoff) is one of Orillia's newer hotels. The hotel has lovely rooms, and some amenities, such as continental breakfasts, and a cozy on-site restaurant. I haven't attended any functions here since the second year after it was built, but I have attended a private birthday party in their small meeting room (holds perhaps 30-40 people). The staff I've met are friendly and helpful here, and it's location just off the southbound highway is perfect for travelers or or businessmen.
It is actually quite lovely inside, though it would not be my own first choice for a "holiday" hotel. It might be good for a romantic couples getaway if you aren't planning to leave your hotel, but it is located in between a grocery store and a bus terminal. Across the road is a convenience/variety store and The Beer Store, which does make it a good location for those stopping for overnight. As well, if you are coming to Orillia for a golf-holiday, then this is a good choice. The golf course is very close to the Stonegate Inn, so one would not have very far to travel. Just because it wouldn't be my first choice, doesn't mean I don't think it's worth a look - it has an atmosphere of comfort and luxury that some people might put first and foremost over location.
Downtown and Couchiching Beach Park are just a few minutes (7 or 8) from the hotel, but Tudhope Park and Moose Beach are perhaps 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the volume of traffic (which can be quite busy in summer months when events are on). The Orillia Square Mall is also just a short trip by car from the hotel (about 8-10 minutes).
