Come relax a while!

Orillia - a city that provides all the services a city-goer wants, with a small-town, "welcome home" lifestyle. An awesome city with the little town feel. Orillia is host to many weekend events. During the summer months almost every weekend has a popular event or show held at any one of the local waterfront parks, the Orillia Opera House or right in the middle of her downtown streets.

Winter months provide outdoor fun in several forms - snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skating, skiing, snow boarding, tobogganing, and cross-country skiing. Orillia's central location gives easy access to several nearby ski resorts. February usually hosts a in the local Polar Bear Dip, a Winter Carnival.

This year, a nearby township (Oro-Medonte) is, for the second time, offering it's Mystical Lights tour. See the blog section for information, dates and times.

The pandemic has caused a lot of closures and openings - some old businesses no longer exist, some new ones are open, and life is re-emerging. I must be fair and add that we moved out of Orillia in 2019 so some of the information on this site might be considered "historical reference".  As I myself get back into town (rare) I'll update the things I found missing or new.
Two of the most popular events are the Scottish Festival in July, and the car show in August. Both events are usually crowded and full of fun, and if you haven't "done them" yet, it's worth a visit.

Apart from choosing Orillia as a vacation destination, there are many good reasons to choose this as a place to live and raise your kids, or a place to buy a cottage for year round use (see the realty page if you are looking to buy property).

Orillia's schools are part of the Simcoe Country District School system, plus has several private schools, and college and university campuses.

A short distance from Orillia (Barrie & Midland) are several more educational options.

Orillia's hospital has a well organized emergency department, several surgical specialties, experts in internal medicine, and, the NICU at "Soldier's" is renowned across Ontario.

More recently, an oncology treatment area has been re-opened with more space and updated equipment, saving long distance travel for many. For feeding the soul, one can find a church of almost any denomination in Orillia, some small, some large but almost all welcoming.

A terrific place to live, and an amazing place to visit with so much to see and do.
